I think I now what might happen. When I send an email through Djigzo with a subject containing non-ASCII characters WITHOUT properly encoding the subject, the subject of the final email no longer contains valid Unicode characters. If the subject is correctly encoded the subject is correct. Headers should only contain US-ASCII characters. I will check where the actual conversion from 8bit to 7bit takes place.
