I use Wine a lot. It is terrible code. Alpha stage at best. Wine is really only usable with video games, where it excels. Thirty one year ago when I started my business, I wrote my account code in Lotus Approach (part of Smart Suite). It has been modified every year since. (OS/2 at the time.) Without Approach, I would have to close my business and hope the government did not want any end of business spreadsheets from me. Wine 9.x onward introduced bug after bug after bug after bug in Approach and Word Pro. Approach became unusable. I must now have 15 critical bugs reported to Wine's bugzilla on Wine 10.x and Lotus, with two more to go. What I finally did out of desperation was to create a qemu-kvm virtual machine (VM) of Fedora 33 (yes thirty three), Xfce 4.14 (from the live ISO), and Wine 6.13. There are a few minor Wine bugs that are easily worked around. And the VM is totally stripped. Does not even have a browser (it does file share with the host). Every new revision of Wine adds more and more bugs. I feel you pain.
