I've prepared the live media stick.
Does the desktop need to be connected to the internet to do the
install correctly and successfully?
Assuming you're using the workstation live, then no. It just does a
disk copy from the booted device. I recommend using the updated
live images to reduce the size of the update to do after install.
It's too late now, but if you ever do it again. :-)
Thank-you, Samuel.
What updated live images? I didn't see anything about that anywhere.
I don't think it's too late. I can re-run Fedora Media Writer and
re- write the stick.

I mean it's too late because you've already done the download, so
downloading a whole new image isn't going to save you over the update
downloads.
For Fedora Workstation using Gnome, is this the correct one:
"F42-WORK-x86_64-LIVE-20250916.iso"?
I'd rather try the already-updated one than do 5 1/2 months of updates,
even though dnf would it all in one shot. I also think this would be
less risky.
And it would also save the time of a shorter dnf upgrade steps after the
download.
Yes, that's the one.
