Yahoo created an app password they said was for Thunderbird. Procedure was to change the Authorization method in Thunderbird from Oauth2 to normal password. From Thunderbird enter the app password to access the mail. No success
My suggestion is to go to Yahoo, change your password (You don't trust any password they create, do you?) and change it in Thunderbird. Also, check what type of authorization they require and make sure Thunderbird is using it.
