Unfortunately, you're still stuffed when it comes to storing passwords
generated for you by something else that won't let you copy and paste,
and password entry gadgets with the same stuff-up.

When it comes to mail, I let browsers and mail programs remember
passwords for me. Likewise with various other unimportant internet
services, the browser can remember for me.

Banking, no. That's only in my head.

A friend of mine lost access to several hundred passwords thanks to a
password manager screw-up. And I dread the day someone exploits
everyone's data-stored-on-a-server password managers.

I absolutely loathe it when some service has a screw-up that they won't
admit to, and force password resets on you as part of their debugging
process. The damn password was stored on my computers and other
devices (plural), *I* haven't got it wrong. Now I have to go around
resetting everything, everywhere.

I never want a job in someone else's IT department, I could not
tolerate the stupid things organisations want to do.
