Do you have old and new connection settings saved? If so, and you want
to keep both saved, you could reduce the *priority* of the old static
one.

Otherwise, delete the old configuration.

When a client tries to connect to a LAN, it *may* request to use its
prior IP, but the DHCP server does not have to concede. The client
*should* use what the DHCP server tells it to use (which may be the
same as before, or different even if the lease time is still valid).

You *may* not have to accept DHCP configuration, even if the router is
issuing them. Here, I can certainly use a fixed IP with a router doing
DHCP (as long as there aren't clashes with other equipment on the
LAN). I limit the IP range of the DHCP server, and deliberately set
manual IPs outside of its range. But I can forcefully set an IP that
is within the DHCP server's allocation range. Though it's up to me to
deal with the consequences.

Other routers *could* configure various things (e.g. firewall) to only
allow the IPs they've allocated, so you may *need* to let *them* be in
control.
