Hi Patrick, what did you install to get that man info for dnf-tracer?
dnf provides '*/dnf-tracer*'
Updating and loading repositories:
Fedora 43 - x86_64 - Updates 100% | 94.5 KiB/s | 13.3 KiB | 00m00s
Repositories loaded.
python3-dnf-plugin-tracer-4.1.2-9.fc43.noarch : Tracer Plugin for DNF
Repo : fedora
Matched From :
Filename : /usr/share/man/man8/dnf-tracer.8.gz
But beware, AFAIK it is for dnf4.
For dnf5, see: man dnf, then man dnf5-needs-restarting
Hi Patrick and Francis, with the needs-restarting command in dnf5 and
tracer, if they conflict with each other how do we determine which one
is correct and whether they are working properly? Tracer gave me a whole
list of packages that it said need to be manually restarted and said
there were 3 processes requiring session restart and 1 processes
requiring reboot, but dnf needs-restarting said there were no core
packages updated hence a reboot should not be required, which I thought
was strange because "man dnf5-needs-restarting" said that included in
the core packages it checks for updates is the kernel so I don't
understand why it said no reboot is required when that command was
issued after running "sudo dnf upgrade" which installed kernel 6.18.9.
Just on the tracer front, among the packages it reported as needing to
be restarted manually as a result of the update that was done were,
kaccess kdeconnectd org_kde_powerdevil plasmashell and wireplumber, how
do we actually manually restart those?
regards,
