Geany is really handy as a pocket. I found that settings for build commands are kept in filetypes.sh and filetypes.common. I zipped copies of them and sent them to my backup dir. You could try a different setting so it is preserved on save, either `use_gio_unsafe_file_saving` set, or neither.
