You might want to check out Seo's FePy/IPCE project (http://fepy.sourceforge.net/), which is a distribution of IronPython that comes bundled with most of the standard CPython libraries. As Seo said, some of them are just copied directly from CPython, but others (e.g. socket, threading) have been re-implemented on top of the .NET classes. That's probably the best route to go if you are trying to run a bunch of unmodified Python code.
