OK, I'm making progress. . . at least now I'm getting an error in a dialogue box, and actually got it to work once this morning!!
I have updated the DirectX SDK to the November 2007 version and the Direct X version on my computer is 9.0. I also have the .NET SDK 2.0 installed.
