Hello! We are using policyd and have run into a problem with “Automatic Replies” (aka vacation/out-of-office messages).
These messages come from our Exchange server and get rate limited by sender. Since Exchange uses an envelope sender of “<>” this triggers our standard sender quota. It has become an issue for our Exchange server again and the Exchange admin is asking if there is a solution yet. Exchange also doesn’t seem to have a sane back off for deferred messages so these auto-replies are gumming up the works to the point normal mail is not getting sent in a timely manner. Log messages look like: Oct 3 14:22:56 mailserver6 cbpolicyd[22735]: module=Quotas, action=defer, host=10.10.10.100, helo=exchange.example.com, from=, [email protected], reason=quota_match, policy=11, quota=11, limit=10, track=Sender:@, counter=MessageCount, quota=551.99/550 (100.4%) I tried a long time ago (in the early cluebringer era) to but was unable to get policyd to like an exception with an empty value (<>, @, “”, etc). Is there any way to create an exception for these “RFC 2298” messages? We are running policyd 2.0.12 with postfix 2.9.9 and amavisd-new 2.8.0. Thanks! Sam -- Samuel T.
