What exactly did you do, and what was the "failure"?

The latest tarball is here:
http://ftp.redsleeve.org/pub/el6/rootfs/rsel6-rootfs-gui-20130927-1.tar.xz

You should be able to extract that into the rootfs of your existing image. Bear in mind, though, that any RPMs you had installed that aren't in the tarball above will end up with their files being "orphaned" because extracting the rootfs tar ball will clobber the package database.

To prevent this, you could do something like:

# rpm -qa | sed -e 's/-[0-9]*.*//' > rpms.list

and then after you have extracted the new rootfs on top:

yum --skip-broken install `cat rpms.list`

assuming you only ever used rpms from one of the repositories (i.e. if you built any rpms yourself you'll have to reinstall those separately).

Kevin,

My latest failure was trying to merge rsel6-rootfs-gui-1.tar into a working
rasp-v2-redsleeve-cli-0.3.ing system.

Other than the instructions on the wiki I don't know.

What issue were you running into when trying to setup the cli or GUI
images?

I use Centos 6 on multiple machines and would like to have a
similar setup on the Raspberry PI and BeagleBone. Was able to
install and run the rasp-v2-redsleeve-cli-3.0.img but not the
original rsel6 cli or gui images. Are there instructions or tutorials
covering the procedure to generate a gui version?
