Hi List,

As mentioned in my previous mail, here a list of older RPMs present in
RedSleeve. I only looked at rpm names. I made a diff of 'rpm -qa --qf
"%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE}\n"' from a recent minimal CentOS install
and RedSleeve on a raspberry.

I found:
86 RPMs with identical version
50 RPMs with minor differences in the version
31 older RPMs

Is this addressed by 'yum update'? Any released image is eventually out of date. Install Centos 6 from DVD, then run 'yum update' and see all that is out of date.

It is nice to publish 'current' images. That is what I am doing for my Cubieboard image (that SHOULD work on any Allwinner A20 card). But I would not be supprised if the image I created last week is already dated.

The 'minor differences' are all (I suspect) compiles of the same SRPMs,
but the resulting versions differ due to either different OS version
(eg. 6 vs 6_5) or due to name changes by CentOS or RedSleeve for
debranding or to make it compile on arm.

The older RPM's are (I suspect) due to updates by PNAELV, which are not
included in mainstream RedSleeve yet.

Please review careful, I made the difference between the two lists by
hand, and by now all the version numbers are blurry to me :)
