If you build the updates using the current 6.7 as a base it is only
valid for 6.7. A server using the normal 6.x can run into dependency
problems.
That isn't necessarily the case, and rpm takes care of most of it
for you automatically.
Either way, I am very much in favour of throwing away all the old
and deprecated package versions and rebasing to the latest versions
with a clean, reduced slate.
