Gordan, I'm guessing it's more a kernel bug, rather than hardware, as I've experienced the problem on multiple devices. I'm using kernel-4.1.19-v7+.1.20150307gita192a05.img.
Bjarne, I don't even get that far, usually. Usually it locks up while doing the yum install for the build. As for number of files, I highly doubt it, I have a 4GB SD card on it, and I'm not seeing space usage increase above 1.6GB (OS takes up 1.2 normally).
