I believe the configuration file can be used to set defaults for all
users + you mentioned that only you and two friends are actually using
Roundcube, so that should be manageable as a tradeoff to start from a
squeaky clean installation, no?
If that is not an option, you can also clone the 0.8.1 database and run
the database upgrade script on the clone. I don't think you should
expect difficulties, but I grew up with Windows 98, ME and XP - although
I have moved to linux almost 20 years ago, I still prefer clean installs
over upgrades... ;)

Vincent,
As for item 3, I asked about those customizations made by each user. How to
transfer from the old to the new version?

Do it manually - you won't regret it:
1. Download and install the new version in a new location (instructions can be
found on the website)
2. Create a new database
3. Manually copy the relevant configuration strings into the new configuration
file and save it
4. set up a secondary domain for the new webmail version
5. As soon as the new version is working as you expect it, shut down the old
version.
Multiple versions can work independently from each other, as they are just another IMAP client towards the server.

Hi,
I have this old version 0.8.1 installed, and as a matter of fact, just me and
two friends really use it. But now we think on increase its usage in our
school. My question:
In order to upgrade to current version, which I think it is 1.4.8, what would
be the right procedure? How to transfer the configuration from the old to this
new one, including the accounts configuration? Is there any tutorial?
Thanks.

I doubt that version is going to be supported.

Hello,
I use a very old version of Roundcube, 0.8.1, and it works for me. I never
tried to update it because I don't want, at that moment, to have new problems
that I don't have now.
I was wondering how to put a signature on this version. I looked through all
the menu items and didn't find them. can anybody help me?
Thanks a lot in advance.
