But I dont see how building the metadata more often would impact the wxGTK

In the old days I used to build metadata a few times a day. If I screwed
something up I could fix it within hours.
Nowadays metadata is generated once a day (it includes dries and fabian
his packages), so every fix I want to push is for the next day.
