The formats are not yet unified though :)
Concerning compression, as a user I think it's fine to provide the build logs
compressed: if a user is investigating some build issues, it's usually just
for one or a few packages at a time, and chances are (s)he can easily deal
with decompressing the files.
But when they are gzipped, they are not being indexed by Google and cannot
be searched by people having build problems. As a packager I often search
for certain build-problems and it would help me if I could use google to
search instead of doing it on local disks.
