Hi,
I'm running CentOS 5 with the RPMForge repo activated, and I'm using a
few drivers like NVidia or Gspca.
When my system starts up, I get an error message from
dkms_autoinstaller, claiming that 'log_daemon_msg' can't be found.
Though there doesn't seem to be any resulting malfunction.
hi Niki,
I don't know about your error message, but more generally it is
recommended to switch to elrepo instead of rpmforge for kernel modules.
You will get kmods that don't need to be reinstalled or recompiled when
upgrading the kernel (so no more dkms).
The drivers are also regularly updated on elrepo, whereas rpmforge won't
be updating drivers anymore AFAIK.
see instructions here for migrating from rpmforge for nvidia drivers:
http://elrepo.org/tiki/kmod-nvidia
I believe the gspca drivers are in kmod-video4linux on elrepo.
You also shouldn't get any conflicts between elrepo and rpmforge, it's
safe to use them together (imo).
cheers
