I'm running CentOS 5 with the RPMForge repo activated, and I'm using a

When my system starts up, I get an error message from
dkms_autoinstaller, claiming that 'log_daemon_msg' can't be found.
Though there doesn't seem to be any resulting malfunction.
I don't know about your error message, but more generally it is recommended
to switch to elrepo instead of rpmforge for kernel modules. You will get
kmods that don't need to be reinstalled or recompiled when upgrading the
kernel (so no more dkms).
The drivers are also regularly updated on elrepo, whereas rpmforge won't be
updating drivers anymore AFAIK.
see instructions here for migrating from rpmforge for nvidia drivers:
http://elrepo.org/tiki/kmod-nvidia
I believe the gspca drivers are in kmod-video4linux on elrepo.
I can confirm that belief. :-)
Whoever still believes in DKMS packages, please speak up ! If we are not
maintaining the old cruft and we have an alternative, maybe we should
obsolete these packages now ?
PS I wonder if we should also have a virtual package that takes care of
obsoleting RPM packages in RPMforge ? How do other repositories handle
this ?
