Thanks for the very useful Scipad tip below. Regarding the reported Scilab Console lost prompt issues introduced by Scipad, I am trying to create some minimal code that reproduces it but did not manage yet.

Click on the very first entry, the one that looks like a series of dashes. A separate window is then opened, which reproduces the content of the windows menu. You can switch between opened files very easily, just by clicking on them in that window. Alternatively, even more quick are the shortcuts described in that same windows menu. Once used to them it's very fast to reach whatever file you want. Basically, start by hitting F7 repeated times and see the result.
