I installed Scilab 2024.1.0 on a new notebook with a HiDPI display
(1920x1080). It runs under Linux Mint 22 (Wilma) x86_64. I set up
partial scaling to 125%. All other applications (except other "Javas")
look properly scaled.

But Scilab do not. I installed the archive from scilab.org, not from the
Mint/Ubuntu repository. It looks at least two times too small. Not only
the text, the whole GUI: text, buttons, scroll bars, etc. I can barely
read the menu. It is impossible to use it.

I know that this is a Java issue on Linux but that does not make it any
better.

As a workaround, I know that you can start Java apps with the option

-Dsun.java2d.uiScale=2.0

to work around that issue. This works with Java apps I tested as long as
you do not connect a normal DPI screen.

*But where do I have to insert that in the Scilab start script?*

I have not seen any line where Java was invoked.

Do any of you have a suggestion? Thanks in advance.

Regards, Hani
