Your reasonig seems very coorect to me. Patches bringing j2ee plugins in
line with java plugin WRT deployment are very wellcome!
Other issues you've noticed (like proper multi-level depenencies &
inheritance, and uniform handling of artifacts of different types)
are going to be solved by maven-new, but the changes in j2ee plugins
you are talking about can add a good value to existing Maven right
now.
