I think its worthwhile to seperate them.
For one, the compiler report is going to have such stuff as warnings
/errors - which is important not to lose amongst a cacophany of other
logging noise.
Secondly it should be much easier to do than the Maven.log (no chicken/egg
issues).
For the maven build report, I think that the site:generate and the
maven.log processing are two seperate tasks (to solve the chichen/egg
issue).
The site:generate will just generate an empty page that contians "Maven
Build Log Missing Error" message. The maven log generation will then
overwrite it.
There is a further complication when using the reactor - do we generate
maven.log's for each project or for the master build project? Or both?
(PS what happened to continueum?)

+1 for both.
compile rep could be much shorter so one finds the problems of biggest
interest easier.
If one don't want the compile report, she must not link/gen it.
