FYI:

Artifact plugin will be available in Maven Beta 10.
It is not available in beta 9.

neither jar(s) nor distribution(s) plugins are at the moment using this
plugin.

Right now I am refactoring artifact plugin and making various optimization
(e.g. connection caching).
But apart from those optimization I am cleaning the Deployer API and I hope
it will be generic
enough that distribution and site deployments can be also preformed thru
this plugin.

I hope to be ready with those changes for tomorrow.

There is still one more thing missing: I want to support the concept of
"external deployer".
This is a deployer which for every deployment request starts external
process (e.g. shell script/batch file).
This will enable more secure deployments which can be processed using
long-lived external security
infrastructure. I mean e.g. somebody can open SSH tunnel to the repository.
With this type of deployer user will be not required to provide an open text
password in any step
of the deployment process.
To finish this task I need good Windows/Linux scripts.
If somebody has good ones...help much appreciated!

regards

Michal
