True...but it only happens once, disk space is cheap and we get the 
added benefit of protection if the network goes down or we rearrange 
network components..

So...I take it there is not a bug written up on this issue.  I have 
added one for it.  Its an RC-1 blocker bug in my opinion.  But then 
doesn't everyone think that about things that don't work the way they 
think they aught to ;)
