Well, you're entirely mistake. I don't actually care about plugin
developers really in comparison with users. But there is also no point
in making plugin development difficult. The user who might be newish to
development or those that are flexible. For those who aren't you can
right your own custom Python scripts and Ant tasks if that seems
appealing which appears to be to some. No one is forcing you to use
Maven.

I heartily disagree and it's not only my opinion. It's the shared
opinion of the developers here which is the notion that manifests itself
in the work we offer. The notion that would allow them to be combined
seems absurd to me. Fortunately for you there is a choice.

You have got to be kidding? In that you would rather that approach than
the separation. You can do that if you like with simple patternsets the
question is why you would ever want to bother.

Is not:

<sourceDirectory/>

<unitTestSourceDirectory/>

Not abundantly clear and expressive?

But I am curious: name one single advantage to putting test and
application sources together. Basically the arguments for it have been
"I want to do it so I should be able to" which is not likely to be taken
seriously around here.

In short, man creates for himself a new religion of a rational
and technical order to justify his work and to be justified in it.
