No big surprise there but you basically can't tell what version things are because there is no manifest information and only some JARs have the versions in them. Sun is an example of a dog's breakfast. Anything that lends itself to comprehension and throws up a barrier against common mistakes is a best practice IMO. The version name in the JAR file name makes it very hard to mistake that JAR for another.
