Ehe ehe, here the trick:
set MAVEN_HOME=c:\java\maven-1.0-rc1 set MAVEN_HOME_LOCAL=%MAVEN_HOME% set PATH=%MAVEN_HOME%\bin;%PATH%
now I both have a shared repository in %MAVEN_HOME_LOCAL%\repository and have maven.bat working.
I think by default the repository should be shared, but I've solved my problems.
