So what I'm hearing is that the stated defaults are not in fact defaults but need to be explicitely stated. And yes - adding torque.addSaveMethod = true got me past my problem. Thanks.

About the save methods, what we need to do is to make sure the properties file torque.contextProperties referred to contains torque.addSaveMethod=true or addSaveMethod=true. Here what I do is adding torque.addSaveMethod entry into ${user.home}/build.properties, and making torque.contextProperties refer to ${user.home}/build.properties itself by adding torque.contextProperties=${user.home}/build.properties into this file. Another way is to use the project.properties file to do the same thing. You might meet some problem when executing torque:id-table-init-sql or something else. here is part of my ${user.home}/build.properties to keep everything works. ########local torque plugin settings######## torque.basePrefix=Base torque.addSaveMethod=true torque.saveException=Exception torque.initialID=1000 initialIDValue=1000 initialIDStep=10 torque.schema.om.includes=${torque.project}*-schema.xml torque.doc.format=anakia torque.doc.dir=${maven.gen.docs}/database torque.contextProperties=${user.home}/build.properties Good luck Jiaqi Guo email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] site: http://cyclops-group.sourceforge.net -----Original Message----- From: Lach, Thierry [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, January 16, 2004 1:06 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Maven Torque task I'm trying to set up a maven project with the torque plugin. I'm using the mswindows install of maven 1.0 rc1 and j2sdk 1.4.1_02. I can get the om to generate, but I get compile errors. [echo] Compiling to C:\workspace\maven/target/classes [javac] Compiling 5 source files to C:\workspace\maven\target\classes C:\workspace\maven\src\java\org\example\om\ExampleTable.java:12: org.example.om.ExampleTable should be declared abstract; it does no t define save(java.sql.Connection) in org.apache.torque.om.BaseObject public class ExampleTable ^ It seems that the three save() methods are not getting generated in the Base class.
