I need some help understanding repository id. Specifically what I don't understand is how the <id>abc</id> value put into your settings.xml or pom.xml file is related to how a repository is setup and configured? When a repository is setup and configured is an ID value set for it somehow? In the maven and nexus docuementation is says many times the ID value uniquely identifies a repository but can't someone else call their repository "central"?
