It means my builds are reproducible. I tend to agree with you but it is
a core requirement of SCM and imo, an indicator of doing things
correctly, even if I have never really needed it ;-)

What does it really mean to reproduce your build? The only time you
really need to reproduce it is when something is broken and then what
you REALLY need is a simple mechanism for making a new determinable
release.
