The error appeared this morning after maven tried to update the indexes while
the central
repository was down
The work around was to run this find command form my repository root:
find . -exec grep -l "Could not transfer artifact" {} \; | xargs rm
The restart eclipse and let it update the indexes.
I would think there would be an mvn command to force a regen of the indexes.

What error message etc are you seeing that suggests this is necessary?
