Actually, it has nothing much to do with them taking a long time. (though some do) I have to work on several different machines - using a KVM. So the one running the build is often NOT visible. It would be nice to have a sound played when it finishes so I can switch back to that machine to do the next task on it. Also, what makes you think I have a choice about how the builds are done? I work at a LARGE company, and the entire process is specified by other people. It is also a very large and complex product. So "just make the builds take less time" is just NOT an option.
