Perhaps your corporate standard build tool is Maven, not Gradle, so you are "not allowed" to use Gradle. Perhaps you want to build a series of artifacts, only one of which is a Grails war file, maybe you even depend on the other artifacts for your Grails build? Perhaps you just plain like Maven and don't know Gradle, and don't wish to learn it.
