Thanks for the reply. I was thinking about using the unpack goal of maven-dependency-plugin, then change the target dir for the WAR to place it in there along with some enhanced EAR descriptors. Just looking for better ideas and/or examples to save time.

I don't doubt that this is possible with some magic, but that magic is separate 
from Maven.

Once you have the magic well-defined, Maven can help you build it and package 
it.
