Thanks for your reply. what i do not understand is that the new application i am trying to mavenize is different from mine, in that app maven is trying to download activation 1.0.4. i never faced this issue in mine and my maven downloaded the activation.jar and its pom but version 1.1 . (i just saw this). So i never faced this issue of could not find artifact.
The problem occurred cos some jar uses this activation.jar 1.0.4 so it tried to download as a nested dependency. I will see if i can exclude them and then try again. Again, I appreciate your response and I think i understand now why is this happening. will try to revert back with my excludes. Thanks.
