Yes... but we should be inclusive and generally allowing the questions and were needed redirect to better forums if we are aware of them.
And when comparing it to Ubuntu... there are the big mailing lists that answer all these kind of questions are a general busy hub of everything. I think such a busy hub would be good for Maven. Currently everything is way dispersed and that harms the project in my opinion since it looks like there is nothing going on. The main users mailing list/forum for Maven should be busy considering how many users there are and not quiet like the list currently is.
