I don't think there is documentation that explains in details about
setting up custom lifecycle (others can correct me if I am wrong!)
If you have the 'Better builds with Maven' book
(http://www.mergere.com/resources_downloads.jsp) , have a look at
Appendix A, it might give you some ideas.
