What goals are you running from continuum?
You could attach the checkstyle:checkstyle goal to another phase:

<plugin>
<groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
<artifactId>maven-checkstyle-plugin</artifactId>

<execution>
<goals>
<goal>run</goal>

What i want to do is generate a checkstyle report.
