Yes, Shale will install some mean mothers. If they
prove to be a performance bottleneck in your
application then you're a hell of an architect. 8-)

performance, but your sarcasm is welcome anyway :-)...
It does clarify that you may end up getting more than
you asked for if you think you're just using one tag
from the core and not the rest of shale (due to config
in the core jar pulling in stuff you didn't ask for).
Like you said, probably not the biggest performance
issue you'll run into, but still good to know what
it's doing without you asking it to, to help in
deciding whether to use just the tag from Shale or to
stick with the standalone tag(s) from the book.
Yes. The upside to the Shale tags, of course, is that they'll be
maintained. You'll have to do that yourself for the book's tags.
Either way, it's nice to have robust validation at your fingertips.
