Thank you for such a quick response! These are indeed great news, however I think that perhaps I wasnt too clear about what I was trying to achieve. I wasnt referring to the problem that occurs (well, occurred at least!) when the user hit the browsers back button, but to the lack of a back button JSF component that could be used to return the user to the previous page when a Jsp is referenced by more than one page. If the savestate stack you were referring to can be helpful in this kind of situation (it sounds like it does!) I would appreciate a pointer to the relevant Class(es) (Im sorry but I still cant find it in the sources!) Otherwise I would still like some information about my original question, i.e. how one would go about manually saving and restoring the component tree....
