Do you have other Tomahawk components working with Facelets?  Have you configured the Tomahawk libraries ?  http://wiki.apache.org/myfaces/Use_Facelets_with_Tomahawk  Perhaps the t:saveState isn't even being rendered?

That's about all I can think of.
