I agree with you, I'm only saying that we could lose "formal" Sun certification, if specifications say X and (by default) you do Y.

If I understand correctly, it would be 99% backwards compatible: * If I did specify a TimeZone in the JSP, it will be used anyways after the change. * If I didn't (and it works) it's because my system local TimeZone is GMT, so I'm not affected by the change. The only case that would be broken was the case where the OS TimeZone is not the same I want to use (for example, aeronautical systems all work as UTC). But these will most probably change the default JDK TimeZone at system startup.
