action method not getting invoked unless immediate = true

Hey guys,

iam writing a sample program where i accept input from text field and on submit i display the values, for some reason that i dont understand the action method is not getting invoked.
if i use immediate = true, the input values are not getting captured, this is the first time iam coming across this error, any help would be appreciated.
