When typing in any other language than the one selected in 'preferences->languages', the auto-correct rightly underlines many words. So, when in that specific document, I go to Check Spelling, a combobox with the available languages is accessible. Two scenarios possible: 1 - I have no text selected in the document => Combobox is grayed out, no options to change language. 2 - Text selected => Combobox is grayed out but I can click the dropdown arrow or click in the textfield. Whenever I do one, the combobox becomes grayed out.

Result: I cannot change the language of a complete document or a specific part of the text in it. This works OK in the MS-Office environment, I have both available to compare behaviour.

Clicking on that is perfectly equivalent to Format - Character. That dialog, in turn, has an option to set the text language, so this is why we redirect there. Does it do something else in your case?
