While doing research for another problem I just found out that the
defect on Issue 98998
<https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=98998> - AutoFormat style
should be re-applied after deleting rows or columns has been marked
resolved despite the fact that there is at least one staff member who
agrees that this issue should be fixed:

@WhitePhoenixUS What is "expected" is judged from the perspective of users like
you. There is always room for improvement.
There should be a way for the Applied Styles list to be refreshed without
closing and re-opening the file.
This is a message that was sent to me on Twitter two years ago. Recently
on Twitter there was a lady who made a big fuss about customer service
on Twitter. I was one of the defenders. I told her that despite this
issue hadn’t been fixed yet, I still hadn’t given up on Apache
OpenOffice. Now I find out that it seems AOO has given up on me.
I don’t like LibreOffice and I don’t trust Google any more than I trust
Microsoft, but it would appear that I need to find another Linux office
suite. Money is not an issue, since I found OpenOffice, but I really
find it galling that this issue should be simply dismissed so off-handedly.
