Jake, you probably do nothing wrong. :-) However, the site for the Templates was malfunctioning and is decommissioned. Unfortunately, we do not have a replacement yet.
But: if you know the name of your template, or the one you're looking for you can still look for it on the site for Templates. When you hoover over the Download button you will see something like: templates.openoffice.org/template/download/60833 in the bottom left corner That last number is the identification for your template. Insert it in the link (like below): https://sourceforge.net/projects/aoo-templates/files/60833/ and that will take you to the download page. Can't make it any better right now.
