Hi there,I'm trying not to panic. I have been saving important data in Open
Office files for years, this is a project I worked on every day for years. Now
suddenly out of nowhere, it won't let me open them. It is giving me the error:
soffice.bin- Entry Point Not Found
"The procedure entry point
??0ViewinformationSD@geometry@drawinglayer@@QAE@ABVcouldnotbelocatedinthedynamiclinklibraryC:\ProgramFiles(x86)OpenOffice4\program\svxcore.dll."
I tried to search the forum, but the instructions they give are gobblydegook to
me- I'm not very tech savvy and I'm terrified I'll accidentally delete all the
work I've done over the years! Can somebody please help me fix this problem so
I can access all my work again?
I don't understand tech very well. I just downloaded Open Office years ago. It
might be updating itself, I don't do it personally. Currently there are 2
shortcuts on my desktop that I use. One says "Open Office 4.1.14" but I don't
use that one. I use another blank one that I use to save a new document each
time I need one which just says "Open Office". Almost all my documents are
saved to Open Office because I lost the license to Micosoft Word when I had to
transfer my data from an old laptop to a used one. So I can't access almost
anything now, not just my year's long project!!! I have transferred all my data
various times through out the years, but I have never had a problem with Open
Office and this problem is popping up out of nowhere because the last time I
transferred data or had a problem with my laptop was years ago, I've just been
going about things as normal. I don't know if maybe the software did an
automatic update recently I'm unaware of. I don't know what information you
need, but I did have a problem on April 27th or 28th, one file I tried to open
came up only as pound signs and would give the option to open as "read only" or
"edit", but when I opened it either way all data was pound signs and it said it
was encrypted and needed the admin to open it. I have no idea what that was all
about, but for that project, I simply started a new document and redid the
information for that day only, and I haven't had that specific problem since. I
thought maybe there had been a glitch because the computer crashed while it was
open, although that happens often enough because it will crash if my charging
cable falls out, which is loose and it happens periodically despite my effort
to not let it, and this problem had never happened before. That was a couple
weeks ago, so it appears something may be going progressively wrong with the
software? Please help!!! I don't know enough about tech to figure this out on
my own!!!
Thanks,
Kate
