if you only have this problem with a couple of files, they could be corrupt and you'll need to open and re-edit them some other way.
i don't think there's a way to tell Windows/Word/OOo to open only specific files with one program, while others are to be opened with annother (that is, if they have the same extension).
what i suggest you do is first open MS Word and, from within it, go to File-Open the file that is causing you trouble. if that doesn't do it, it's the file.

What concerns me is why I have so many of these Error responses.....with 2 or 3 files, though not all. Is there a way I can permanently change those files to WORD so they don't open in OOo and don't elicit the dreaded (and nuisance) Error Report from Sun?
